Introduction: | The yttrium orthovanadate (YVO4) is a positive uniaxial crystal grown with Czochralski method. Nd:YVO4 laser crystals are used in all types of solid-state lasers systems-frequency-doubled continuous wave, high-energy Q-switched etc. It has good mechanical and physical properties and is ideal for optical polarizing components because of its wide transparency range and large birefringence. |

Introduction: | Q-switching, sometimes known as giant pulse formation, is a technique by which a pulsed Laser beam is produced. This allows the production of Laser pulses with extremely high peak power, much higher than would be produced by the same laser if it were operating in a continuous wave (constant output) mode. Passive Q-Switching is preferred in various industrial applications because of relatively cheaper manufacturing process, compact sizes and light weight designs of the Laser sources.
Cr4+: YAG (Y3Al5O12) crystals are excellent for passive Q-Switching diode pumped or lamp-pumped Nd: YAG, Nd: YLF, Yb: YAG or other Nd and Yb doped lasers at wavelengths from 1.0 to 1.2mm. Being chemically stable, durable, UV resistant, they have good thermal conductivity and a high damage threshold. |

Introduction: | KTP (KTiOPO4) is a nonlinear optical crystal, which possesses excellent nonlinear, electrooptical and acoustooptical properties. A combination of high nonlinear coefficient, wide transparency range, and broad angular as well as thermal acceptance makes KTP very attractive for different nonlinear optical and wavequide applications. KTP is a standard crystal with the parameters mostly used in extracavity configuration when the single pass through the crystal is required. KTP crystals are optimised for SHG intracavity configuration in low peak power CW lasers. Because of large number of passes through the crystal low insertion losses and high homogeneity are essential for crystal efficiency. The special highest quality material selected by SHG efficiency mapping of each crystal, fine surface polishing and dual band AR coatings with very low losses allow PHOTONIK to produce KTP crystals suitable for infracavity SHG application. |
